This steamed ginger pudding recipe is so easy to make and tastes delicious. Perfect desert to serve at a gathering.

Serves: 6 people

Ingredients

250 g butter or margarine
1 cup sugar (200 g)
2 eggs
2½ cups cake wheat flour (320 g)
3½ tsp baking powder (18 ml)
½ tsp salt (3 ml)
2 tbsp ground ginger (30 ml)
1 cup milk (250 ml)

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, using an electric whisk, beat together butter and sugar until light and creamy.
  2. Add eggs and beat well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture.
  4. Add milk and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour mixture into a 2-litre greased glass pudding bowl and cover with foil.
  6. Pour water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
  7. Place pudding bowl in saucepan (water must reach halfway up the bowl), and steam pudding for 2½ hours.
  8. Serve warm with custard.
